Debris-carrying green lacewing larvae (family Chrysopidae) John H. Downs Memorial Park, Anne Arundel County, MD FACTOID: These guys cover themselves with pieces of their prey (this is possibly mealybug wax) and sometimes from trichomes (hairlike projections on the surface of leaves). The debris provides camouflage and a physical defense against predators, and is used to cover their cocoons.
